An ImagePipe license isn't tied to a single domain by default on the Ultimate and Business tiers: it can be activated on several WordPress/WooCommerce installations at once, up to the number allowed by the tier (4 sites on Ultimate, 100 on Business). For an agency managing several client stores, this means one license key covers the whole portfolio instead of buying one subscription per client.
Activating a new site is done from that site's own ImagePipe settings screen in wp-admin, by entering the license key. The plugin contacts /api/license/verify once to register the activation and cache the signed verdict locally; it doesn't re-check on every page load afterward. To see how many activation slots are used and how many remain, log into the customer account at /portal/licenses, where each active license lists every site currently attached to it.
Each activated site keeps its own settings independently of the others on the same license: image quality, resize mode defaults, and watermark configuration (logo or text, position, opacity, margin, scale) are all per-site. Changing the watermark for one client's store has no effect on the others.
If the quota is full and a new client needs to be onboarded, an existing site can be deactivated from /portal/licenses/{id} to free its slot immediately, for example when a past client's contract ends or a store is being decommissioned. The freed slot becomes available for the next activation right away, with no need to wait for renewal.
